JamiiX Upgrade and Downtime

It has been awhile since we’ve blogged but we are excited about the latest developments with JamiiX as we will be upgrading our servers between the 17 – 19 February. This would mean some downtime to our servers as we are preparing to setup the new servers. We do apologise for the inconvenience and will inform you as soon as everything goes back to normal.

JamiiX breaks over a Million contacts

The new year started off with a bang as JamiiX surpassed 1 Million contacts supported since its inception. The big push was also due to the Facebook integration where users can now chat via organisations Facebook pages.

We want to thank everyone for their continued support as we strive to improve JamiiX and the service we deliver to our users.

It is hard to believe that 2011 had come and gone, with so much to be thankful for. The JamiiX team has constantly been working on what is next and trying to improve the JamiiX experience.
It was a year where we’ve surpassed 500,000 users being supported via JamiiX, and soared processing more than 30 Million messages with clients from 13 countries.

We realize that we wouldn’t be where we are today without the continued support of our users. Special thanks to each of you for contributing to the growth of JamiiX and we are looking forward to continue helping you having the best conversation experience in 2012.

JamiiX wins award at SAFIPA ICT Conference

Today JamiiX won the award for Best Commercialised Innovation at the SAFIPA Conference. This acknowledgement of the work we’ve been doing indicates the value of JamiiX as a young start-up. SAFIPA has been instrumental in providing JamiiX early stage seed funding and mentorship over the last year. Thank you SAFIPA for the award and we will continue growing the JamiiX brand and drive enterprise messaging innovation.

JamiiX plans for Finland launch

JamiiX featured in the Helsinki Daily newspaper where it gave some insights to the launch of our platform in partnership with Aalto University and the Helsinki Deaconess Institute (HDI). This exciting collaboration will ensure that HDI will be able to reach youth who are at risk and we looking forward seeing this exciting project growing throughout Finland.

JamiiX reaches 500,000 contacts

Since our soft launch June 2010, we’ve reached more than 500,000 contacts engaging with JamiiX eXchanges (Chat channels). This achievement is largely due to our strategic partnerships in a number of countries and we currently also have users of JamiiX eXchanges in 63 countries.

We are continually building and evolving JamiiX to give you the best enterprise messaging experience with your contacts and clients. Thank you for all your support and we hope that we can together grow from strength to strength. JamiiX is excited to be celebrating year ONE with that introducing our New Look with a few additional features that will provide you with an even greater JamiiX experience. Some of the latest JamiiX updates are:

1. A complete revamp of the front end site.
2. We’ve integrated our Blog into our main website.
3. A new FAQ/Forum server
4. A new contact form
5. The front end of the site is now mobile enabled meaning that you can now view the front end via your mobile mobile and do user registration at your fingertips.

Over the next few months you will have even more exciting features to look forward to as we always want to ensure your have the best engagement with your users. It is also thanks to you that more than 400,000 users are being connected via JamiiX.

FAMSA uses JamiiX for family counselling

This week FAMSA one of South Africa’s oldest non-profits providing counselling and support to families and communities across South Africa signed up to use JamiiX in the Eastern Cape region. A 2 day training workshop was held in Port Elizabeth where 10 Mobile Advisors were equipped with the skills for mobile counselling and on the JamiiX platform.

This exciting opportunity could possibly lead to FAMSA in the Eastern Cape being able to grow their support base and allow them to access rural areas that normally are not easily accessible. FAMSA would specifically be using JamiiX to provide support to single parents and youth in their school programmes. We hope through this partnership that we will be able to expand the FAMSA services across South Africa into other provinces.

Out of Africa: JamiiX in Top 5 Mobile Innovations from Africa

JamiiX was identified as one of the top 5 mobile innovations from Africa on the VOMO website. We are really honoured to be highlighted alongside Ushahidi, Fundamo, MXit (JamiiX Parner) and M-Pesa. Although the journey for JamiiX is only 12 months old we have really enjoyed it and looking forward expanding our user-base to beyond Africa into the global markets.
